Modern policing requires you to be able to put up with the vast amounts of abuse that the public throws at you because they see you as filth and the villains in the society therefore they do not like trust the police. This is seen in chapter 5 when the protagonists go up to students when they on their study period who are loitering around the pier and insult the police when they go up to them. The police may have not helped them in the past so they may be unwilling to help them in the future. this is seen in chapter 5 when a mans shop is vandalised and it takes the police 3 days to respond therefore when his son is a prime witness in a violent assault case he does not allow him to be interviewed. This inhibits the police's ability to help more people so it becomes a vicious cycle leading to more people unwilling to help the police and bring criminals to justice.

4. What is 'long form television drama' ? [2] a long form TV drama is when a show has a long narrative arc with the same characters. this could also involve multiple seasons. 

5. What is a 'flagship' programme? [2] the flagship programme is the prized program on the station that they heavily market and is their best program.

Apply Blumler and Katz's audience framework to what you learn from this article. people use this for the surveillance gratification by finding out what is happening in the wider society like at The PM's briefing. people watching it together gratifies the need for forming relationships within a family over the shows they are watching and also bonds with society also.
